Utah! (Part 1)

Let me first say that I'm thankful to be back on non-rocking-cool-breazy-LAND. Don't get me wrong, I'm GRATEFUL that my parents decided to take a road trip with a tired, cranky mama and her barely 10-month-old I-get-into-everything son. They should be put down on the list at the Vatican for Sainthood. But I'm still glad to be out of the RV. Yes, my friends, we drove an RV from Huntington Beach, California to Alpine, Utah, a grand total of 675 miles. It sounds like nothing right? Wrong. RV's aren't exactly reaching speeds of a Porsche 911 Turbo. We lumbered along, reaching a high speed of 55 in some places. That little hike uphill towards Vegas that your Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys have no problems with? Well let's just say I thought my Dad was gonna make me and my Mom get out and start pushing. Aside from the slower commute, we also had a bit of an issue with our AC. The RV is equipped with two top-mounted AC units and one unit in the dashboard. So a total of 3 units. The makers of this fine Recreational Vehicle decided that you could only have ONE AC unit on at a time. ONE. It's a 33 foot long vehicle that you can stand up in and move around comfortably. ONE AC unit isn't gonna cut it in a 120 degree desert. (Oh and just for kicks, my Dad later told me that the unit in the dash was ripped out before they bought it. Nice.) So here we are put-putting along in an RV that felt like it was just as hot inside as it was outside. Imagine a meat smoker slowly rolling down the freeway, roasting its inhabitants.

But we did find ways to keep cool with A LOT of H2O and sitting very very still...well...except Marek, who didn't seem phased at all by the heat:

Notice how everything is wet?

Gamma sprinkling us with water

Marek, literally, having a blast!

It was definitely a memorable trip. All jesting aside, I would like to thank my parents for taking us there and back and not too mention all the crap that goes along with carting a baby around; strollers, pack & plays, toys, food, clothes, etc. Thanks again guys! (Maybe next time we could take the SUV? haha.)
